Pennsylvania Equine Council Youth

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to work at the Education Station, Trail Stewardship Booth, PEC information booth during the Equustravaganza, Ag Progress Days, Keystone International Livestock Exhibition and PA State 4-H Horse Show.

The Education Station is a great place for young or new horse owners to learn what it really takes to properly care for a horse. There is often a real horse out at the booth for petting. There are also models of horse's bones, hooves and teeth, grooming equipment, posters and educational literature about horse care. This may be a great place for some of you to learn more about horse care, but I am sure some of our youth members would feel confident enough to discuss horse care with other kids at these events.

The trail stewardship booth gives information about how to save Pennsylvania's trails. Many PEC members volunteer their time to repair horse trails in their area. The stand features informational pamphlets, posters, full size model horses, packing equipment and a fake campfire.

The main PEC booth offers tons of general information about what the PEC does for the Equine community and why you should support it. One example is information about laws that PEC has helped to pass to make your equine experiences easier, more affordable, safer and more enjoyable. They also have the Pennsylvania liability signs for sale.
